Guide to my Ecuadorian Trip

Two days enroute to one week in the Galapagos.  Then two days outside of Quito and four days outside of Otavalo.  The pictures in the pages are links to (usually) larger versions of the pictures.

Friday, 2-16-2001 - In which we travel from Seattle to Quito.

Saturday, 2-17-2001 - In which we tour Quito and I reflect on the connection between religion and architecture.

Sunday, 2-18-2001 - In which we travel from Quito to Isla Baltra and I slip into a whole different mode of living.

Monday, 2-19-2001 - In which we visit Isla Genovesa and I see a whole lot of boobies.

Tuesday, 2-20-2001 - In which we visit Islas Baltra, Santa Cruz, and Rabida and I have a close encounter with a sea lion.

Wednesday, 2-21-2001 - In which we visit Islas Isabela and Fernandina and I see pelicans nesting in Mangrove Trees.

Thursday, 2-22-2001 - In which we visit Islas Santiago and Bartolome and I swim a long way and eat ceviche.

Friday, 2-23-2001 - In which we visit Isla Santa Cruz and I have to find my wallet.

Saturday, 2-24-2001 - In which we visit Isla Espanola and I see boobie chicks, a Tropic Bird, and many dolphins.

Sunday, 2-25-2001 - In which we return to Quito and I briefly describe my overall reactions to the Galapagos Islands.

Monday, 2-26-2001 - In which we take a hike in the highland rain forest and I see primitive potato farming.

Tuesday, 2-27-2001 - In which we travel to Otavalo and I appreciate Ecuadorian roads.

Wednesday, 2-28-2001 - In which we visit Otavalo's Wednesday market and I wait and reflect while Karen shops.

Thursday, 3-1-2001 - In which we tour some of surrounding craft communities and I note the parallel between social and species evolution.

Friday, 3-2-2001 - In which we hang around the hotel.

Saturday, 3-3-2001 - In which we visit the middle of the world and head home.

Sunday, 3-4-2001 - In which we arrive home in Seattle.
